The roles of subType="x-preverse" and canonical="true" in title elements?

It would seem that the SWORD engine (though not JSword) not only uses the title attribute subType="x-preverse" to determine title position, but also to determine whether or not the title is displayed when the headings are hidden by the front-end settings for modules with GlobalOptionFilter=OSISHeadings. This is made more complicated by its relationship with the attribute canonical="true", which rightly overrides the hiding of headings in JSword, but not in SWORD. A further complication is when the same verse has more than one preverse title. Even JSword falls over at this point. I do not understand the reasoning behind this behaviour. Some front-ends (other than xulsword) don't handle canonical titles properly. Some Psalms have more than one canonical titles. David Haslam 08:52, 7 January 2012 (MST)

Psalm 119 Acrostic Stanza Titles

The main page does not cover the details for how the SWORD engine should handle the 22 acrostic stanza titles in Psalm 119 for translations that do not use poetry markup in the Psalms. David Haslam 06:55, 17 December 2015 (MST)
