It would seem that the SWORD engine (though not JSword) not only uses the title attribute subType="x-preverse" to determine title position, but also to determine whether or not the title is displayed when the headings are hidden by the front-end settings for modules with GlobalOptionFilter=OSISHeadings. This is made more complicated by its relationship with the attribute canonical="true", which rightly overrides the hiding of headings in JSword, but not in SWORD.
