Some SWORD front-end applications use libsword ICU to provide a [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Transliteration transliteration] feature.  For example, in [[Frontends:Xiphos|Xiphos]], when you right-click in a non-Latin script module, you can see this in action.
